  There are but a few prime lots left in the Country Club of Louisiana, so some builders and homeowners are buying and renovating older homes on the best lots. One great example is the home at 19240 South Lakeway Ave., a brand new 13-year-old home with some of the best views CCLA has to offer. It might sound incongruent to say “brand new 13-year-old home,” but when you step inside this 3-story Todd Norman renovation, you’d swear the home was just built.

Much of this three-story home was taken down to the sheetrock and wall studs before it was completely renovated with marble and quartzite counter tops, Baldwin hardware, all new appliances and light fixtures, and a new roof. The home is also freshly painted inside and out.

But perhaps the best thing about this 5,122-square-foot jewel is the home’s incredible downhill view of one of CCLA’s lake. Most of the rear of the home is either windows or balconies, both offering great ways to see the large back yard and lake. Arches are a common theme, repeated throughout the home.

The home’s interior, designed by Ann McCanless, is floored in job-finished oak planks, and the windows are very large with large lights and sunset transoms above. In the living room, transomed windows are stacked on top of French doors, creating a wall of light facing the shimmering lake. Ceilings here soar to about 26 feet. A stone fireplace is on one wall, and a custom iron staircase with marble steps and brass handrails winds up the back wall to the second and third floors.

The kitchen and keeping room have more oak floors and stainless KitchenAid appliances including a 6-burner cook top, a pair of wall ovens, a big refrigerator, an icemaker, a wine refrigerator and a microwave drawer in the marble island. Counter drawers are the self-closing kind, and cabinetry is painted. The keeping room has another stone fireplace separating big windows to the lake out back. Just down the hall from the kitchen are an office with built-ins and a balcony overlooking the lake, as well as the laundry room and an exit to the home’s three-car garage.

The master suite, meanwhile, is at the opposite end of a hall containing the guest suite and bath. French doors lead to a private master balcony overlooking the lake. The master bath is past two closets with light-switched doors, dressers and lots of hanging space.

Up on the second floor, there are two bedrooms that share a long Hollywood bath with a tub and walk-in shower. The second floor is just as upscale as the first, with special stone flooring and marble counter tops. Another full set of stairs heads up to the third floor, which has three dormers, a bedroom and a full bath.

With a fresh coat of white paint inside the home is bright and inviting. All the beautiful windows allow in lots of natural light as well as views of the Steve Rowley landscape.
